My Old Nova Scotia Home

Lake La Rose

Above is a slide show of the Lake La Rose area in Nova Scotia and my cabin on the lake. I like to spend some time there each summer enjoying the tranquility. It also allows me to re-connect with family and friends that I grew up with.

My father and I built the cabin in 1975, the year my twins were born. At that time it was just a plywood shell. We used it as a weekend getaway while the children were small and they loved the “roughing it” style. After we moved to Georgia, it sat dormant for about 20 years. When I retired in 2009, I began going back in the summers and upgrading it. Now I have electricity and hot and cold running water. Sometimes I wonder if that is actually an improvement.
